Cordless Window Treatments For Homes With Children

Children are often at risk of getting tangled up in cords while playing around a window. Cordless blinds in Sydney come in many different types, such as pleated shades that drape across the top but do not touch or pull on any cords to open them. They can be mounted inside or outside windows and have no hanging cords near children’s reach level for added safety.

Some blinds and shutters in Sydney come with motorized operation, making it much safer and easier to open and close your window treatments. You can also find motorized shutters, that are made of vinyl, aluminium or wood. These styles come with both inside and outside mounting options to suit your home’s needs. Motorized window treatments offer the ultimate child protection because they will close themselves without any cords for a hands-free closure system.

It’s important to maintain your cordless or motorized window treatments with regular cleaning. For help, consult the manufacturer instructions that came with your product. If you have a problem and can’t find the answer in their documentation, call customer service for help, because it is always best to follow the right guidelines given by the manufacturer rather than doing something on your own that may damage the window treatment.

Which types of window treatments can be motorised?

Motorised window treatments are a great option for homes with children. With this type of treatment, you don’t have to worry about cords or other items that could potentially be dangerous if they’re pulled on by little fingers.

Some options of window treatment types available in motorized option are:

Roller Blinds – The classic and cost-effective roller blinds in Sydney are a very popular choice among home owners with young families. They are very easy to operate and install and are one of the most low-cost blinds around.
Honeycomb Blinds – A more expensive type of blinds but one that provides greater effects in terms of insulation and noise cancelling. These blinds have air pockets (or cells0 which trap air within them creating an insulative barrier between the window and the room. So, they are ideal for the hot summer months as well as the cold winter months.
Roman Blinds – Roman Blinds in Sydney are also very popular, because they add a lot of style and elegance to a room. Made of fabric, you can select it in different types of fabric, textures and colours to suit your specific needs.
Vertical Blinds – These are a low cost, easy to maintain type of blind. Ideally suited for home offices.
Panel Glides – Panel Glides offer great design aesthetics and style for the room, as well as space saving properties. These panels move along a track and stack up at the end when fully open. They can be made in solid colour or even prints, depending on your style ethos.

Almost all of these window treatment options provide great privacy and light control, offer stylish designs and some are even helpful in providing your home with the best possible insulation and noise cancelling properties. They are ideal for homes with little children, not only because they can be motorized for their safety, eliminating choking hazards that are apparent with cords and chains, but are also great for their rooms, to ensure that only the required amount of light seeps in, helping them to sleep better (we all know how difficult it is to get kids to sleep, right?).

As a parent, you know that your children’s safety is the most important thing. Windows are an area of concern for many parents because they provide easy access to the outside world and can be dangerous if not properly secured. With cordless window treatments you have all the benefits of traditional blinds or shutters without any cords or chains dangling around near potentially hazardous areas in your home.

If you are looking for the best options in terms of blinds and shutters in Sydney which are suitable for homes with children, speak to your local supplier and get their advice. They will be able to better help you with selecting the absolute best. They will also have a wide selection of materials, colours and styles available, so you won’t have to compromise on aesthetics.

Transform Your Business With BPO

Business owners inevitably find themselves in a spot where they are unable to quickly grow without investment. In the past, growth required significant investment in staffing for different functions, office space, and marketing and sales.

However, with current technology, companies of all sizes and growth stages can take the advantage of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) to grow and transform their business model. Let’s look at some of the key ways this can be achieved.

Take Advantage of Emerging Opportunities
With the help of BPO, you can run a nimble business that can exploit emerging opportunities. Let’s take the example of a small real estate brokerage operating in San Antonio. With the real estate market red hot in Texas, especially in neighboring Austin, it could make sense for them to start operations there.

In a traditional approach, you would open an office, and hire people in marketing, research, operations, etc. However, with the help of BPO, you can hire outsourced marketing and sales support to generate leads and get remote executives to connect with local property owners.

BPO allows the flexibility to rapidly exploit opportunities. If at any point in time you experience a downturn in business, you can immediately scale back your business functions as most BPO contracts allow you to reduce billing hours based on your needs.

Improve Profitability
Startups and growing businesses are in a race to find profit. You cannot spend money or precious resources getting in-house processes optimized. With the help of BPO, you can quickly outsource business functions often for an affordable fee.

For example, instead of employing a full-time bookkeeper, you can use online bookkeeping services and save thousands of dollars a year as well as countless hours of your own time.

Build Valuable Expertise
Building expertise in a start-up or small business can be difficult, especially with current labor shortages. BPO allows you to overcome these challenges by providing you with readily available expertise and process knowledge.

Let’s take the example of a retail chain looking to expand into a neighboring state. As they prepare to expand, they will need to set up contacts and negotiate rates with suppliers.

With the help of an outsourced research service, it’s easy to tap into an expert team of procurement specialists. Such experts can benchmark the capabilities of suppliers in the new area and prepare cost models for effective negotiations.

Exploit Technology
Irrespective of the size of the business you are running, using the best available technology and processes will help you achieve a competitive advantage. When you engage leading BPO to manage different business functions, you get the advantage of deploying cutting edge technology which might be out of reach for a small business.

Look at the example of an outsourced customer support team working for your businesses. It offers you the chance to build a knowledge base based on similar clients it may be handling. Based on their previous experience in similar verticals they can implement best practices of query escalation and incident management. Moreover, they can offer insights about challenges your consumers are experiencing.

Similarly, an outsourced marketing group can introduce best practices of growth marketing relevant to your vertical and let you use software platforms which would cost a lot to purchase yourself.

Key Advantages of Engaging BPO Across Key Business Functions
Growing businesses need to build expertise across marketing, sales, technology services, customer support, accounting and compliance to name a few functions. Let’s look at some of the advantages BPO services offer.

Accounts Receivables
There are many benefits to outsourcing collections on your accounts receivable to an invoice factoring company. Perhaps the most obvious benefit is that it frees up your time to focus on other aspects of your business. Another benefit is that it also allows you to take advantage of the factoring company’s expertise in collections, which can lead to improved cash flow.

Marketing Services
BPO specializing in marketing and sales functions can help you tap into emerging markets, deal with new client topology, and drastically improve the rate of customer acquisition and retention.

They can help you with marketing research and run digital marketing campaigns in specific areas. Outsourced marketing services teams can also coordinate with local executives and run sales support campaigns.

Technology and Digital Services
Nearly every business needs to embrace technology to stay relevant. BPO specializing in technology and digital services can manage your presence on websites and apps, as well as create applications to improve customer service and product support.

Technology solutions can also manage your business data, assist with reporting and analysis, and forecast trends.

Customer Support Functions
Using BPO for customer service, you can offer customer support across phone, email, social and other digital channels 24/7 and gain competitive advantage.

Some BPO can even help you with managing AI chat support systems, knowledge bases, and engage in support-driven growth.

Final Thoughts on BPO Transformation
BPO offers one of the most innovative ways to quickly transform your business into a lean operation focused on profitability and growth. It also allows you to build a sustainable business model in a vertical where profit margins are relatively low.

However, the biggest advantage that BPO offers is the power to experiment – you can enter new markets, try new product and service offerings, and dramatically increase your marketing and sales efforts without breaking the bank.

Flowers used in craft gin production

Flowers are a popular ingredient in craft gin production. This is because they add a unique flavour to the final product.

Flowers used in the process of making craft gin include:

- Lavender – rose petals

- Lemon grass

- Orange flowers

- Verbena

- Roses

- Elderflower

- Honeysuckle

- Lemon flowers

- Chamomile

Lavender, one very popular flower used for this purpose, is also a member of the mint family and has been traditionally use to make herbal tea and medicines. It’s flavour pairs well with juniper berries which is the predominant ingredient found in gins around the world. Some people believe that certain flavours can be attributed to different types of flowers such as; citrus fruits like oranges go great with verbena while herbs like thyme work best when paired with chamomile or coriander seeds. In some cases, spices may actually overpower floral aromas so good pairing is essential when it comes to crafting a great tasting gin.

The Craft Gin Laboratory, an American distillery located in Los Angeles California, are dedicated to this craft and have their own line of gins named after flowers they use for flavouring such as The Botanist Islay Dry Gin which is made with over 20 different botanical ingredients including juniper berries, angelica root, coriander seeds and elderflower liqueur.

There are quite a few flowers used in the production of craft gin which helps to make each batch unique. Some producers also use fruit peels or even chocolate for flavouring their gins making them slightly sweeter than traditional gins, but floral gin is a very unique taste altogether.

The next time you want to try out a different flavoured craft gin, why not try one with floral botanicals, and see how you like it? We can assure you of enhanced aromas and flavours through the infusion of florals in these gins, and they will surely be something else altogether!

Indoor And Outdoor Pest Control Service

OUTDOORS
The exterior of your home is the place where pests find their way inside. It may not look it, but modern homes tend to have lots of entry points that are advantageous to the curious pest control. Many pests can fit through holes the size of a coin or smaller. Many also find their way in through whatever landscape or environmental conditions are around your home. Here are some things you can do to make the exterior of your home uninviting to pests.

KEEP MULCH AND LEAVES AWAY
Mulch and leaves are a haven for pests of all kinds, since they are full of moisture and decaying plant matter that can be eaten, along with other tiny creatures that can be hunted. If you have a garden or hedge near your home that you keep mulched, turn or change the mulch every so often to keep it fresh and uninviting to pests.

TRIM BRANCHES AND BUSHES
Overhanging branches, branches that get close to your home, and bushes and plants that hug your walls can act like a bridge for any kind of pest control you could imagine, big or small. You can solve this problem by cutting back tree branches and trimming shrubbery.

KEEP FIREWOOD STACKS AWAY
Homeowners who enjoy building fires in fireplaces or wood stoves may want to stack their firewood outdoors. Make sure to keep firewood at least 20 feet away from the outer walls of your home, and store it on a raised surface so it’s not in direct contact with the ground. The risk here, however, is that pests will try to make themselves a home in your wood stacks. So keep an eye, too, on any firewood that you bring into the home to make sure it doesn’t have any pests living in it, as they could take that opportunity to sneak into your home.

SEAL EXTERIOR CRACKS AND CREVICES
You might not think your home has many entryways for pests, but you might be surprised. Gaps in homes can occur in any place where edges meet, such as where walls end and meet foundations, windows, bricks, stone or any other kind of barrier material. Take some time to investigate for these cracks and holes and seal them with copper mesh and a silicone-based caulk. Look also for places that have a lot of moisture (which is a sure draw for pests) and make sure they stay as dry as possible.

FIX SCREENS AND WINDOWS
If you have a screen door, a screened-in porch or a window that has cracks or holes, this could be a major point of entry for pests. Make sure to patch up mesh that has been torn, fix cracks in glass, and repair any other gaps.

CLEAN GUTTERS
If debris tends to clutter up your gutters, this may be a major source of a pest infestation. From here pests can find their way through your roof or walls and into your home, so make sure to take the time to clear leaves and twigs out of them. Also watch your gutters’ drainage pipes and downspouts at ground level to make sure they are not providing an entry point for pests to crawl in.

INDOORS
One of the best ways to prevent pests from sticking around indoors is to keep a clean house. Regularly clean up crumbs and food waste. Vacuum, dust and disinfect surfaces and floors. Keep stored food (yours and your pets’) in sealed containers off the ground and throw away any that has evidence of pest tampering (i.e. chew marks). Fix moisture leaks, as this attracts anything from rodents to roaches to ants. Monitor used items that enter your house to make sure bugs aren’t nesting in them. When pests enter your home, they’re looking for food, water and secluded areas to nest, so keep them away by removing their food sources. You may not be able to completely keep pests from infesting your home with these methods, but you will definitely make your home less appealing to them.

If you’re in need of assistance fixing moisture problems or if you need help getting rid of pests that are already in your home, don’t hesitate to contact us! We’re here to help.

What Are The Health Implications Of Excessive Use Of Electronic Gadgets?

In fact, it’s hard to find a space in the home that doesn’t have at least one electronic device plugged in and turned on, but the question is, is all of this screen time good for your health? The answer might not be as obvious as you think.

The problem with screen time is never the technology itself; rather, it has more to do with how we choose to use our devices and whether or not they’re interfering with other aspects of life like sleep or exercise habits. As an example, watching TV before bed may cause trouble falling asleep because screens emit blue light which alters circadian rhythms (the internal clock) and suppresses melatonin levels which can contribute to insomnia if done close to bedtime.

What are the various health implications of excessive use of electronic gadgets?

Screen time has become an integral part of our lives with the constant use of electronic gadgets like smartphones, laptops, desktops, etc. There are many factors that need to be considered when it comes to screen time but one thing is for sure, too much of anything is bad! It’s important how we choose to use our devices and whether or not they’re interfering with other aspects of life like sleep or exercise habits.

How does screen time affect your sleep cycle?

Screen time can adversely affect your sleep cycle in a number of ways. There is significant evidence to suggest that screen time before bed can severely affect the quality and duration of sleep. One experiment showed a reduction in total sleep time, deep slow-wave sleep (SWS), and REM after viewing an hour’s worth of bright light from TV compared with dim light exposure. In addition, experts have reported seeing people who are using electronic devices late at night complain about insomnia for various reasons. As an example, blue LED emitted by these screens might be stimulating parts of our brains involved with alertness even when we aren’t looking directly at them or focusing on them.

The body temperature also increases while watching television, especially LCD TVs since they emit more heat than other types of TVs, and this too can affect sleep quality.

Teenagers and children are the highest at-risk group to get affected by electronic gadget overuse because of their lifestyle and habits. Watching TV before bedtime can also cause delayed circadian rhythms in teens which make them sleepy very late, for example past 11 pm or midnight.

It has been found that exposure to bright light from using electronic gadgets, for example, laptops or mobile phones after sunset can suppress melatonin secretion resulting in trouble falling asleep. People who use these devices while lying down might be putting themselves more at risk since this position could aggravate reflux disease (heartburn) where acid flows up into the oesophagus causing pain. Another harmful effect is related to blue LEDs used on all kinds of screens including mobile phones, tabs, and computers. These blue light LEDs have been found to be a potential health hazard for retina cells and might increase the risk of age-related macular degeneration, one kind of eye disease where central vision becomes gradually damaged. Furthermore, excessive use of electronic gadgets can cause physical injuries since people tend to hold them in an awkward position while texting or playing games on mobile devices.

The effects of reducing screen time:

Reducing screen time is an essential step towards healthy living. You can follow some tips which are given below to reduce your screen time and keep yourself safe from the harmful effects of excessive use of electronic gadgets:

Switch off all the electronic devices at least one hour before going to bed since they might interfere with sleep patterns.
Use same-day disposable lenses instead of conventional glasses as it reduces eye strain significantly.
If you feel discomfort or any pain while using an electronic device, stop using it immediately until you consult a doctor.
Take regular breaks during prolonged usage of screens so that eyes remain fresh for longer periods.

As you can see, there are several harmful effects related to excessive use of electronic gadgets which could affect our mental and physical well-being. Thus, even though you may be tempted by all the electronic items for sale, it is important that we should limit their usage at a particular time to avoid any negative impact on health.

The cleaning and hygiene measures businesses need to have in place to stay safe

As the country eases out of lockdown, Jangro, Janitorial suppliers in Cork advises on the cleaning and hygiene measures businesses need to have in place to stay safe

Cleaning and hygiene have always been a vital cog in organisational success, but now, as the country slowly eases out of lockdown, they have risen to the top of companies’ agendas. Health and safety regulations state that employers have a duty of care for their staff, but with social distancing measures expected to stay in place until further notice, this responsibility has never been more important.

There are many things to consider keeping employees, visitors, and customers safe. Some measures may be short-lived, in existence only for the time that the coronavirus threatens our health, whilst others may survive longer-term and become standard practice. This could ultimately result in workplaces, leisure facilities, and restaurants becoming healthier spaces in the future.

Ensure facilities are hygienically clean before re-opening

Before workers, customers, or visitors return, premises should undergo a deep clean to eliminate any trace of bacteria. Whilst the risk of COVID-19 surviving on surfaces is likely to be reduced significantly after 72 hours, other harmful bacteria may still be present (MRSA, for example, can live on surfaces for weeks!). If they are not removed or destroyed effectively, they will multiply or mutate, increasing the likelihood of an outbreak of infection.

Operatives should use disposable cloths or paper roll, and disposable mop heads and cleaning chemicals to clean all hard surfaces, floors, chairs, and sanitary fittings, together with a combined detergent disinfectant solution (at a dilution of 1,000 parts per million available chlorine). Any used cloths and mop heads must be put into waste bags and disposed of accordingly. Look for specialist floor cleaning products to make life easier.

As well as the usual tasks on the cleaning check list (such as washrooms, flooring etc.), operatives should pay special attention to high traffic touch points within a facility. Lift buttons, telephones, and door handles are all places that can transfer harmful bacteria to hands, and, in turn, be moved onto new surfaces or transmitted to other people.

Washing our hands of the risk

Hand hygiene has become the mantra for 2020 and must continue. The fact that handwashing can break the chain of infection and prevent the spread of germs is not new knowledge. However, it is true to say, that pre-pandemic, it wasn’t practised effectively, for long enough, or indeed in some cases at all. Today’s awareness of its importance has never been greater, and it is key that businesses continue to influence hygienic behaviour.

Washroom facilities should be in good order and must remain well-stocked. This means that operatives may need to monitor them more frequently to ensure that dispensers do not run empty. Employers should also ensure there are other opportunities for hand hygiene across the rest of their premises. Placing hand sanitiser stations around all communal areas, such as entrance/exits, reception areas, cafeteria and rest-break areas, meeting rooms, and employee workstations, will help to prevent bacteria from spreading.

Finally, make sure staff are confident with the correct procedures by placing wallcharts that highlight the best techniques.

Two metre markers

Social distancing is here to stay for the foreseeable future. However, humans are sociable beings, and this does not come naturally to us – despite having been practising it since March. Reminders are, therefore, vital to ensure people remember; and visual aids will be key to this. For example, lines marked out on flooring, social distancing signs and matting can all help prompt responsible behaviour to maintain effective spacing between each other.

By implementing these infection prevention measures, businesses can get back to work, safe in the knowledge that they are doing everything possible to achieve a healthier workplace, and protect their employees, customers, and wider community.

Optima Tax Relief Lists Some of the IRS “Dirty Dozen” 2022 Tax Scams

The IRS has warned taxpayers of possible tax scams to be avoided in 2022, including:

Maltese pension arrangements misusing treaty
Puerto Rican captive insurance
Monetized installment sales
Optima Tax Relief explains what each of these scams is and the tax implications of using them. The IRS recently released its annual “Dirty Dozen” list of tax scams, and there are some new additions this year. As in previous years, the list includes scams that target taxpayers in various ways, including phishing emails, phone calls, and text messages.

Maltese Pension Arrangements Misusing Treaty
Some taxpayers have attempted to avoid paying taxes by making contributions to foreign retirement accounts in Malta and other countries that allow non-cash contributions or do not limit the number of contributions. This becomes an issue when taxpayers improperly claim the foreign arrangement to be a pension fund for U.S. tax treatment purposes. This then allows them to claim an exemption from income tax earned on the account, as well as the distributions from the account.

The Maltese pension arrangements are a clear abuse of the treaty system and need to be reformed. The current system allows wealthy individuals to funnel their money into Maltese pension schemes, which are then used to invest in foreign real estate and other assets.

This benefits the individual by allowing them to shelter their money from taxation, but it does nothing to help the people of Malta. The government needs to close this loophole and put an end to this abusive practice. Only then will the Maltese pension system be able to function as intended, and the people of Malta will finally be able to benefit from it.

Puerto Rican Captive Insurance
In this transaction, a U.S.-based taxpayer claims deductions for the cost of insurance. The problem is this insurance is provided by a fronting carrier that reinsures the coverage with a foreign corporation. The fronting carrier essentially rents out its license to the taxpayer as they assume no actual risk.

Monetized Installment Sales
In monetized installment sales, a seller will agree to sell appreciated property to a buyer for cash. The seller then claims to sell the same property to a third party in return for an installment note. Then the third party claims to sell the property to the buyer and receives the cash purchase price. The issue is the seller receives an amount very close to the sales price without paying transactional fees, all in a nonrecourse and unsecured loan.

The IRS is strongly urging any taxpayer who has engaged in the above transactions to file an amended return and even seek tax advice. Not doing so can result in penalties and even fraud charges.

This year, however, the list also includes scams that specifically target small businesses and self-employed individuals. One such scam is the “ghost preparer” scam, in which a tax return preparer promises a large refund without ever seeing the taxpayer’s financial information. Another common scam is the “phishing” scam, in which taxpayers receive fake emails or text messages that appear to be from the IRS requesting personal information. The best way to avoid these scams is to be aware of them and to use caution when providing personal information to anyone claiming to be from the IRS. If you have any doubts about the communication you’ve received, you can always call the IRS directly to verify its legitimacy.
